IOWA FALLS, IA -- Gladys Marie Sprugel, 84, of Iowa Falls, Iowa passed away Thursday, March 27, 2014, at Iowa River Hospice in Marshalltown, Iowa. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 am Saturday, March 29, 2014 at the First United Methodist Church, 619 Main Street, Iowa Falls, Iowa. Inurnment will be at the Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell, Iowa.

Gladys Marie Sprugel was born July 16, 1929 in rural Goodell, Iowa, the daughter of Edgar V. Mayhew and Leona F. (Sandry) Mayhew. She graduated from Belmond High School in Belmond, Iowa, and the Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls, Iowa. On August 24, 1952, Gladys was united in marriage to Charles William Sprugel in the United Methodist Church, Goodell, Iowa. Born to this union were two daughters: Vicki Lee, and Beth Marie. After graduating from Iowa State Teachers College, Gladys taught in Williams, Iowa. She was actively involved with the Edgewood Board, Church Women United, the Girl Scouts, UMW (United Methodist Women) and other First United Methodist Church activities.

Gladys M. Sprugel is survived by daughters Vicki Sprugel of Marshalltown, Iowa; Beth (Brent) Hendricks of Grinnell, Iowa; two grandsons: Isaac Hendricks of Orange City, Iowa, and Zachary Hendricks of Grinnell, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson, Justin Hendricks; husband, Dr. Charles W. Sprugel, and a brother, Edgar J. Mayhew. LINN'S FUNERAL HOME.
