Danny L. Mau, 67, died September 11, 2013 at his home in Klemme. Services were held September 16 at the Klemme United Methodist Church. Military honors were provided following the service.

Danny Lowell was born October 13, 1945 in Garner to Lowell Charles and Merlin Arlene (Pringnitz) Mau, the oldest of four children. Danny graduated in 1964 from Klemme High School and attended technical school. He enlisted in the United States Navy where he was a communications officer.
When Danny returned from duty he began working at Winnebago in Forest City. In 1972 he married Gwen Butler at Indian Lake near Goodell. They had three children. Danny began working for Charles Butler at BMD in Klemme, and built the business to be a very successful company. Today the firm is known as A&I Products; it provides services in the U.S. and foreign countries. Danny dedicated 35 years of loyal service to the company.

Danny later married Julie Yakel, and they spent many years together. Although later divorced, they remained close friends. Danny was an active member of the community, always willing to help out at a town event or at church. He served as mayor and as a fire fighter. Danny enjoyed taking care of his home and his garden. He was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan and enjoyed the antique power show in Belmond. Danny was known for his gentle laughter that would put a smile on anyone’s face. His most precious possession was his family; he relished spending time with those he loved. Danny will be remembered as a man who loved life, enjoyed the simple things along the way, and cared deeply for those around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his second wife Julie. The legacy of Danny will continue in the hearts and minds of his children: Devon (Jayme) and their son Devon II of Urbandale, Danielle (Connor) Mau and their children Nico and Corinne of Overland Park, KS, and Dillon Mau of La Crosse, WI; his siblings Randy (Linda) Mau and their children Barbie, Melissa and Amy; Cheryl (Bill) Panther and their children Joseph, Jessica and Cassandra; and Connie (Gary) Schleusner and their children Bridget, Christopher, Casey and Brittany; and his step-children Mandie (Noah) and their daughter Riley of Mason City; Trevor Pasch and his daughter Taylar of Sioux Falls; and Kathryn Turnball and her daughter Shelby of Iowa.
