Steven Bill Lorraine, 65, went to be with his Lord at 9:45 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, 2013. He was born Oct. 23, 1947, in Clarion, Iowa. He attended the Prairie Community High School in Callender, Iowa. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and was a Vietnam War veteran. He was an avid pool player, golf enthusiast and talented photographer. He retired from The Gleaner after 18 years of service.
He was preceded in death by his father, Laverne K. “Bill” Lorraine; his brother, Danny K. Lorraine; and his first wife, Sharon Inge Lorraine. Survivors include his wife of almost four years, Janice Beals Lorraine; one daughter, Janyna Lorraine Russelburg, and son-in-law Bryan Russelburg of Henderson; one grandson, Bennett Avery Russelburg of Henderson; his mother and stepfather, Faye and Alvin Sollie of Callender, Iowa; one brother, Joel Lorraine and his wife, Susan, of Luxemburg, Wis.; one sister, Darla Anderson of Austin, Texas; one brother-in-law, Morris Beals and his wife, Joni, of Henderson; two sisters-in-law, Paulette Butts and her husband, Rick, and Debbie Haire and her husband, Tony, both of Henderson; 11 nephews, four nieces; and 18 great-nieces and -nephews.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Tomblinson Funeral Home Henderson [Kentucky] Chapel. The Rev. Keith Griffin will officiate. Burial will be in Fairmont Cemetery, with military honors rendered by the American Legion Worsham Post No. 40. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday and after 10 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
Pallbearers will be Morris Beals, Tony Haire, Rick Butts, Joel Lorraine, Dakota Floyd and David Spurlin.
