PONTIAC, Illinois — Lynn A. Mennenga, 73, of El Mirage, Ariz., formerly of Pontiac, died at 3:15 p.m. Friday (Sept. 13, 2013) at Advocate BroMenn Medical Center, Normal. His funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Baptist Church, Pontiac, with the Rev. James O. Wolfe III officiating. Burial will be at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery, Elwood. A visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Calvert & Martin Funeral Home, Pontiac. Memorials may be made to a charity of donor’s choice.

Lynn was born Sept. 12, 1940, on the family farm in Belmond, Iowa, a son of Harry and Esther Frohling Mennenga. He married Sue C. DeBolt on Sept. 30, 1967, in Pontiac. She survives in El Mirage, Ariz. Also surviving are five sons, Scott A. Mennenga, Morris; Todd A. Mennenga, Chicago; Bradd A. (Stephanie) Mennenga, Morton; Ross A. Mennenga and Chadd A. (Megan) Mennenga, both of Pontiac; 11 grandchildren, Brittany, Alexis, Madison, Sophie, Grace, Andrew, Alex, Michael, Rachael, Nolan and Graham; one sister-in-law, Margaret Mennenga; and two nephews, Duan and Daren Mennenga. Lynn was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Larry Mennenga.

Lynn was educated in a country school and a graduate of Belmond High School. He moved to California for one year. He farmed in Iowa until 1963, when he entered the U.S. Army and served his country stationed in Hawaii. In 1965, Lynn was discharged and returned to the family farm and continued to farm until his retirement in 1988, when they moved to Pontiac. Lynn was a consultant for Trevcam Inc. and was involved in real estate investments and property management. He was a former member of the Pontiac Elks Lodge. He loved horses, farming and spending time with his grandchildren.
