ELOY, Ariz. – James C. Veldhouse, 63, of Eloy, formerly of McHenry, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2013, at Hospice of the Valley Lund Home in Gilbert, Ariz., with his family at his side after a battle with pancreatic cancer. Jim was born on Oct. 9, 1949, in Algona, Iowa, to Charlotte and James E. Veldhouse. He attended school in Corwith and Wesley, Iowa, and graduated from Minnesota State College in Mankato, Minn., in 1971. After graduating, Jim started his banking career at Kanawha State Bank, Kanawha, Iowa, and later moved to Aurora and then to Wonder Lake. On Feb. 23, 2002, he married Dawn Anderson in Wonder Lake. In June 2009, Jim retired as vice president of loans at Wonder Lake State Bank and moved to Robson Ranch in Arizona. Jim was active in the McHenry Rotary Club, participating in the annual ham dinner, Rotary scholarship program and the FISH collection day. He was a member of the RV club and golf club at Robson Ranch and enjoyed dancing at all of the block parties. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and sharing stories with his friends. He is survived by his wife, Dawn; son, TJ; daughter-in-law, Kathleeya; and granddaughter, Talia of New Zealand. A graveside inurnment will be at a later date in the Corwith Cemetery, Corwith, Iowa. Oakcrest Funeral Services of Corwith is in charge of arrangements.
