Dorothy Evelyn DeFoe, 90, of Fort Dodge passed away on Thursday February 7, 2013 at the Good Samaritan Center in Manson. The funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 9, 2013 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church with Reverend Lyle Hansen officiating. Burial will follow in the Colfax Township Cemetery, Vincent, IA. The visitation will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Friday at Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services.

Dorothy is survived by her son Richard Alan (Donna) DeFoe of Verona, WI; daughters Phyllis Jean (Leon) McMurren of Bend, OR and Patricia Ruth (John) Ford of Kissimmee, FL; 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents Edward and Emma Hansch; her brother Edwin Hansch and sister Irma Dencklau.

Dorothy Evelyn Hansch was born on April 27, 1922 on the family farm northeast of Fort Dodge. She attended country schools and then 2 years at St. John's Lutheran Parochial School. She married Phillip D. DeFoe in 1941 and later divorced. She worked for the Super Value in Fort Dodge for two years and the Fort Dodge Community Schools Food Service for 21 years from 1976 until 1997. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and attended the Joy Group at the church.
