BRITT, IA - Lenord W. SCHWAB, 84, of Britt, passed away Monday (May 31, 1999) at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital, Britt. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Don Campbell officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Cataldo Funeral Home, Britt, and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Lenord W. Schwab, the son of William and Clara (Anderson) Schwab was born Aug. 23, 1914, at Britt. He attended rural schools at Corwith. He farmed in the Corwith area all of his life. On May 8, 1941, he was married to Mae Clarice Ellen Winters at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, in Stilson. They farmed west of Stilson until 1968 when they retired. Lenord took pride in his livestock operation. After retiring from farming, he owned and operated a backhoe and tiling business. His hobbies were making clocks, fishing and woodworking. Lenord and Mae enjoyed traveling to Arizona in the winter and to their cabin on German Lake in Minnesota. He was a member of the United Methodist Church and a former member of the Stilson Evangelical United Brethren Church.

He is survived by his two daughters, Lucille Carlson and her husband, Kenneth, of Wesley and Eleanor Swan and her husband, Michael, of Vernon, Conn.; four grandchildren, Brenda Schutter, Julie Sander and her husband, Michael, Clarence Carlson and Sara Ellen Swan; four great-grandchildren, Christa Sander, Kurtis Sander, Amy Sander and Derrick Sander; a brother, Harold Schwab and his wife, Astred, of Britt; many nieces and nephews; and a special friend, June Attig, of Titonka. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Schwab, on May 7, 1997; and his parents. Cataldo Funeral Home.
