LAST RITES HELD FOR MRS. IDA OXLEY

Corwith, Iowa - July 11 - Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Oxley were held Saturday afternoon at the Methodist Church with Rev. C.B. Mitchell of Titonka, in charge. Burial was in the Corwith cemetery.

Ida Anna Oxley, the daughter of William H. and Chrystina Oxley, was born December 1, 1868, at Ossian, Iowa, and died Wednesday, July 6, 1949, at Still Hospital, Des Moines, Iowa, where she had been a patient intermittently since her return from California in March of this year. Mrs. Oxley was the fourth in a family of six, all of whom have preceded her in death. She was educated in schools near Ossian and attended Luther College in Decorah. She was a teacher in her community and later taught east of Corwith. On December 23, 1896, she was married to Edward H. Oxley, of Corwith, following a friendship which developed between the family of W. H. Oxley, of West Union and England, and W. H. Oxley, of Ossian and Ohio - their fathers, who met at a fair in West Union, Iowa.

Mr. and Mrs. Oxley established a home on a farm southesast of Corwith and there their four children were born: Neva (Mrs. W. H. Wickline) of Des Moines; Wayne H. of Decatur, Ill; D. Roger , of San Diego, and Dorothy (Mrs. Harold Anderson) of Warba, Minn. In 1920 the family moved to their larger farm east of Corwith where the lived until 1943, moving to Des Moines to make their home. Mr. Oxley died in 1946. Mrs. Oxley was a member of the Corwith Methodist church, the Order of the Eastern Star; D. Y. T. Club, and for many years was actie in Farm Bureau circles. She enjoyed other neighborhood activities and organizations. On January 1 of this year she enjoyed the Tournament of Roses at Pasadena, Calif.

She is survived by two brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law, Mr and Mrs. W. T. Oxley, of Fergus Falls, Minn.; Mrs. Oscar Oxley, of Algona, and Mrs. B. F. Alexander, of Des Moines; six grandchildren, many nephews and nieces, and hosts of friends.

Out of town people at the funeral were; Mr. and Mrs. Rele Reeves of Des Moines; Mrs. B. F. Alexander, of Des Moines; Mrs. Earl Shaw, of Churdan; W. T. Oxley, Fergus Falls, Minn.; Leslie Oxley, Minneapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Oxley, Austin, Minn.; Mrs. Alta Oxley and Vincent, Algona, Mrs. Leslie McEnroe, Algona, Mr. and Mrs. Pearl Hicock and William and Alice Oxley, of Ventura.
