Lila Brandrup, 97, Webster City

Graveside services for Lila Brandrup will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, May 21, 2011 at Graceland Cemetery, with Pastor Ray Artrip officiating. Lila Brandrup, daughter of Nelson and Henrietta Nelson Brandrup, was born April 23, 1914 at Webster City. She received her education in the Webster City school system, graduating from Lincoln High in 1932. She then went on to Iowa State Teachers College and Simpson College at Indianola and received a B.A. in Education. She taught at Jewell and Eagle Grove; operated a motel in Ames for 5 years; in 1959, she moved to Denver, CO, where she owned and operated a laundry; she also sold real estate for 5 years in Denver. Lila retired in 1979 after serving as a librarian in Denver for 10 years. She then moved to the Nut Tree Ranch Estates at Newberg, OR. In 1994, she moved to Webster City. She had resided at Crestview since August of 1994.

Ms. Brandrup is survived by nieces, Betty Rouse of Webster City; Joyce Burger of California; Beverly Brandrup of North Carolina; Anne Bender of Jesup; Henrietta Rothman of Colorado; several great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers, Leonard, Clifford and Orville Brandrup. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Webster City. Lila died Saturday, March 5, 2011 at Crestview Senior Living. Foster Funeral Home - Webster City, Iowa.
