Bonnie Campsa (Benner) Beers
April 29, 1905 -- November 11, 1995

Bonnie Campsa Beers, the daughter of Henry and Campsa (Holden) Benner, was born April 29, 1905 at Corwith. She attended school in Britt where she graduated from Britt High School in 1924 with a Normal Teaching Certificate.

On March 20, 1926, she was married to Burdette W. Beers at the Christian Reformed Church in Clarion. She taught in the rural schools of Hancock County until 1936. In 1956, she graduated from Mason City Junior College in Mason City. Bonnie was an elementary teacher in the Garner-Hayfield Community Schools until she retired in 1970; her twenty-seventh year of teaching. In 1961, Bonnie and Burdette moved from Garner to the Methodist Camp in Clear Lake. In 1970, they returned to Garner for one year and then moved back to Clear Lake. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Ventura, U.M.W. Society, Unity Chapter #58 O.E.S. of Mason City, Grand Cross of Rainbow for Girls, Charity Rebekah Lodge #105 of Clear Lake, Golden Club and Retired Teacher's Association of Cerro Gordo County.

Survivors include her husband, Burdette Beers of Mason City; three sons, Warren Beers and his wife, Anna Mae (Juhl), of Ventura, CA, Eldon Beers and his wife JoAnn (Hanna), of Tipton and Bernard Beers and his wife, Frances (Watkins), of Sulphur Springs, TX; thirteen grandchildren; twenty-four great-grandchildren; a sister, Nadine McCormick of Spencer; a brother, Duane Benner and his wife, Tressa, of Humboldt, AZ; and a sister-in-law, Lila Benner of Mason City. She was preceded in death by two grandsons, Dennis Beers and Bentley Beers; her parents; a sister, Hazel Govig and two brothers, Kenneth Benner and Sherril Benner.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, November 14, 1995 at the United Methodist Church, Ventura, Iowa, the Rev. David Gobeli officiating. Musical selections "The Old Rugged Cross", "In The Garden" and "It Is Well With My Soul" were sung by soloist Mrs. Scott Kramer, accompanied by Mrs. Dorothy Schnuelle, organist. Gordon Quintus served as usher.

Casketbearers were Bonnie's grandchildren: Daniel Beers, Brad Beers, Gary Beers, Steven Beers, Brian Beers, Shari Beers, William Beers, David Beers, Edward Beers, Ellie Moore, Lovella Opplinger, Beth Ann Riherd and Marjorie Nelson. Interment was made at Corwith City Cemetery. Cataldo Funeral Chapel of Garner, Iowa, was in charge of arrangements.
