Paul Kenneth Schwandt, son of Otto John and Nellie Emma Wesseloh Schwandt was born on February 11, 1928 in Webster City. On March 3, 1928 he was baptized into the christian faith at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Webster City. He was later confirmed there as well. As a young boy Paul lived for a few years in Orange County, California, before returning to the Webster City area where he later graduated from Webster City High School in 1946. He then attended Iowa State Universities Agricultural program. In 1956, the family moved to the Williams area where they established the family farm. On December 26, 1960, he married Betty Grace Nelson in Goldfield, Iowa (recently celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary). Paul and Betty continued farming the family farm until their retirement in 2001. At that time they built a new home and moved to Webster City. They later moved to Friendship Haven in 2008.

Paul was a hardworking man, who dedicated his life to farming the family farm and raising livestock. In 1952, he and his father, Otto were named Iowa master pork producers, and also that year were awarded the state master corn producer award. Paul served on the Northeast Hamilton School Board for 17 years, many of those as president. He was also active in various community organizations. He enjoyed fishing and camping with his family, as well as helping his children with their 4-H livestock projects for many years.

Paul was a man of strong faith, which he instilled in his children, grandchildren and those around him. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Alden, where he served as chairman, elder and various other positions. Paul was always ready to serve the Lord in whatever capacity he could.

Paul was called to his eternal home peacefully, while surrounded by his family. Those thankful for having shared in Paul's life include his wife Betty, son, Keith (Lisa) Schwandt of Williams; daughters, Leann (Bryan) Baumhover of Storm Lake and Lynette (Randy) Steinkamp of Ft.
