Glenn Donald Sloan, son of James and Elizabeth (Krauss) Sloan, was born August 10, 1920, on a farm southeast of Corwith, Iowa. He attended school in Corwith and graduated in 1938. After graduation, he continued in the operation of the family farm. On March 16, 1952, Glenn was married to Phyllis Pardun at the Presbyterian Church in Clarion. The couple resided on the farm southeast of Corwith, where they raised their family. Glenn was a gardener by heart, an engineer by nature, and a farmer by trade. He enjoyed projects that included building and restoration of tractors and other equipment. He was an active member in the United Methodist Church of Corwith, as well as offering his variety of skills to friends and family.
Glenn suffered a mild heart attack and stroke in September 2009, which resulted in a move to the Kanawha Community Home in November 2009. Glenn died Tuesday, September 7, 2010, at the Hancock County Memorial Hospital in Britt, Iowa. He was 90 years old. Glenn is survived by two sons, Scott and wife Jennifer of Corwith; Jeff and wife Mary of Littleton, Colorado; one daughter, Beth Howard and husband Richard of Edwards, Colorado. Also surviving are grandchildren, Emily, Jared, Nathan, Meghan, Stuart, Tyler and Ryan. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Phyllis on November 29, 2009; daughter, Connie; brother, Marvin Sloan and a sister, Margaret.
