Clara J. Bier, 85, Klemme, died Monday, June 30, 2003 at the Belmond Medical Center. Services were held Thursday, July 3, at the Evangelical Free Church in Britt with interment at Ell Township Cemetery near Klemme. The Dugger-Ewing Funeral Home of Belmond was in charge of the arrangements.

Clara was born February 21, 1918, the daughter of Owen L. and Blanche (Montgomery) Nuehring near Klemme. On March 14, 1939, Clara was united in marriage to Warren Bier. They farmed near Goodell for 35 years. She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Warren; granddaughter, Twyla Rae; two brothers, Lyle and Laurel; and two sisters, Grace Kemp and Betty Van Nurden. Survivors are a daughter, Fonda (Carrol) Heifner of Klemme; three grandsons, Galen of Wausau, Wisconsin, Calvin (Leslie) of Belmond, Lowell of Garner; six great-grandchildren; sisters, Dorothy Brede of Klemme, Mavis Eckes of Long Prairie, Minnesota, Marie VerHelst of Klemme, Inez (Bruce) Dunbar of Mason City; brothers, Morris (Margaret) Nuehring of Kanawha, Dean (Elsie) Nuehring of Osage, Ralph Nuehring of Klemme, Keith (Wilma) Nuehring of Webster City.
