CORWITH, IA -- Gertie E. Hankins, 99, of Corwith, died Sunday (Feb. 23, 1997) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center East, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Lutheran Church, with the Rev. Caroline Engelbrecht officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Britt. Visitation will begin after 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Ewing-Dugger Funeral Chapel, Kanawha, and one hour prior to services at the church on Thursday.

Gertie E. Hankins was born June 2, 1897, in Britt. Survivors include two daughters, Katheryn Quebe and Gloria Adams, both of Corwith; two sons, James Hankins of Banner Elk, N.C., and Richard Hankins, Algona; 12 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sons, six brothers and three sisters.
