Marva B. Pringnitz, 69, of Cokato, Minnesota passed away Thursday, July 19, 2001, at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia. She and her twin, Margaret, were born in Hampton, Iowa, Jan. 4, 1932, and grew up in northern Iowa where her father worked as a farm laborer and factory worker during the depression. She graduated from Mason City High School and found work as a secretary, working for Damon's of Dallas, Texas; Case International, and the Milwaukee-Chicago Railroad. She married Harley Walter Pringnitz of Kanawha, Iowa, Dec. 7, 1957, in Goodell, Iowa, and raised three children with him, as well as caring for several foster children. Marva went back to work as a cook at Cokato Manor in 1987, and later, for New Beginnings of Waverly. Because of illness, she retired in 1994 and spent the remainder of her days fighting diabetes and enjoying life and her grandchildren as much as possible. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Howard Lake, and served on the board of the United Presbyterian Women there for several years. Marva was fun-loving, brave, kind, honest, open-hearted, and a "real" person with no pretenses about her; she loved everyone. Her quick wit and calm demeanor will be missed by all who knew her and everyone who loved her.

Marva was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Wilkins and Gladys Legler, and her husband, Harley. She is survived by her twin, Margaret of Des Moines, Iowa; her sister, Lorraine Lester of Cisco, Texas; two brothers, Leo and Lonny Wilkins; her sons, Howard Pringnitz of Round Rock, Texas, and Lyle (Darcie) Pringnitz of Litchfield; her daughter, Patty Pringnitz (fiancee, Rick Jackson) of Coon Rapids; and four grandchildren, Crystal, Warren, Emma and Mark. In addition, she leaves behind several loving and devoted friends and neighbors who meant so much to her.

A memorial service was conducted Monday, July 23, 2001, at 2:00 p.m., at the First Baptist Church of Cokato. Memorials were donated to the American Diabetes Association, to help find a cure for the disease that took her life.
