February 18, 1997FOREST CITY, IA ---Helmer Vaage, 87, of Forest City, died Sunday (Feb. 16, 1997) at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Immanuel Lutheran Church, with the Rev. David Samuelson officiating. Burial will be in Brush Point Cemetery, rural Hanlontown. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the Petersen Lund Funeral Home, 505 N. Clark.
Helmer Vaage was born Aug. 18, 1909, in Kenmare, N.D., the son of Jorgen and Christine (Erickson) Vaage. Survivors include his wife, Mildred [nee Biegler] Vaage of Forest City; three daughters, Norma and her husband, Eldon Evans, of Northwood; Helen and her husband, Richard Holstad, of Northwood; and Karen and her husband, Mylan White, of Joice; two sons, Roger and his wife, Susan Vaage, of Marion; and Glenn Vaage of Clear Lake; one sister, Mrs. Dena Rollefson of Hanlontown; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, seven brothers and two grandchildren.
