MESERVEY - Kenneth W. Olinger, 84, of Meservey, passed away Sunday (Jan. 12, 2003) at Mercy Medical Center-North Iowa in Mason City, of natural causes. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Salem United Methodist Church in Meservey, with Pastor Dan Voss officiating. Burial will take place in the Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Salem United Methodist Church and will continue one hour prior to services at the church.

Kenneth Wayne Olinger was born Sept. 12, 1918, in Dows, the son of Ralph W. and Hazel (Crane) Olinger. He attended school in the Dows area. Kenneth was united in marriage to Ruth Blickenderfer in 1940. They made their home in rural Clear Lake where Ken farmed. In 1967 Kenneth was united in marriage to Janice Peterson. The couple made their home in Belmond, where Kenneth drove a truck for Acco Seeds. He retired in 1980. In 1983, they moved to Alexander where he raised rabbits. In 1993, they moved to Meservey. Kenneth also helped Janice with her flower shop and greenhouse in Belmond. Kenneth was a member of the Loyal Order Of Moose. He also was a member of the Board of Trustees for Mount Vernon Township rural schools.

Kenneth is survived by his wife, Janice, of Meservey; two sons, Ellery and his wife, Carol, of Clear Lake, William and his wife, Sharren, of Mason City; one daughter-in-law, Judy Olinger, of Mason City; one stepdaughter, Yvonne Rademacher and her husband, Richard, of Charles City; one stepdaughter-in-law, Alice Peterson, of Belmond; two sisters, Ida VerHelst, of Dows, and LaVon Bridges, of Dows; five grandchildren; four stepgrandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and five stepgreat-grandchildren. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; a son Robert in 1995; a stepson, Jim; stepdaughter, Donetta; and one brother, Homer. Dugger Ewing Funeral Home.
