GOODELL - Jeremy Allen Hanson, 21, of Goodell, died Tuesday (Nov. 2, 1999) at his home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church, Goodell, with Pastor Curtis DeVance officiating. Interment will be in Amsterdam Cemetery, Goodell. Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, in Belmond and will continue one hour prior to services on Friday at the church.
Jeremy Allen Hanson, the son of Douglas and Marla (Eriksen) Hanson, was born on Nov. 29, 1977, at Belmond, Iowa. He was baptized at the Dows Presbyterian Church and he was confirmed at the United Methodist Church, in Goodell. He attended school in Belmond and graduated from Belmond High School in 1996. During that time, Jeremy was very active in athletics. He participated in basketball, track and cross country. For Jeremy, running cross country was his favorite. Jeremy was also a lifeguard and a certified Water Safety Instructor at the Luick Memorial Swimming Pool in Belmond. He enjoyed canoeing with friends. After high school, Jeremy attended two years of college, one at Iowa State University in Ames and a second at North Iowa Area Community College in Mason City. He had been working at Kinseth's Plumbing and Heating in Belmond for the past year. Jeremy had a good heart and loved life.
Those left to cherish memories of him are his parents, Douglas and Marla, of Goodell; a sister, Amber and a brother, Jeffrey, both at home; maternal grandmother, Marlene Eriksen, of Dows; paternal grandmother, Eva Hanson, of Thornton; paternal grandfather, Larry Hanson, of Jackson, Ohio; great-grandmothers, Madeline Hymas, of Las Vegas, Nev. and Ila Hanson, of Greeley, Colo.; and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Preceding him in death were his grandfather, Norman Eriksen; great-grandfathers, Lyle Hanson, Alvin Thiemann and Ray French; great-grandmothers, Jennie Thiemann and Hazel French; uncle, Roger Eriksen; and two aunts, Margaret Eriksen and Laura Schaefer.
