WODEN - Elizabeth Hayungs, 96, of Woden, passed away Thursday (June 24, 1999) at the Titonka Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at St. John's Lutheran Church, in Woden, with the Rev. Arlen Lloyd officiating. Interment will be in Bingham Township Cemetery, south of Woden. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, Woden, and will continue one hour prior to services on Monday at the church.

Elizabeth Hayungs, the daughter of Anton and Elizabeth (Urban) Schwab, was born Feb. 9, 1903 in the country of Bohemia. In 1923, she came to the United States and settled in the Webster City area. On Feb. 22, 1930, she was married to John Hayungs at Woolstock. They farmed in the Woden area all of their married life, except for a period of time from 1930 to 1950, when they lived at Fort Dodge. They retired in 1960 and moved into Woden. In June of 1998, she moved to the Titonka Care Center. She was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church for over 50 years where she belonged to WELCA, a woman's church group and had served on the prayer chain.

She is survived by her children, Carl Hayungs, of Fountain Hills, Ariz.; Harold Hayungs and his wife, Stella, of Britt; and Arlene Smith and her husband, Don, of Bella Vista, Ariz.; 10 grandchildren, Joyce Moellinger and her husband, Brent, and their children, Ashley and Brody; Linda Huggins and her husband, Tim, and their son, Jarod; Brian Hayungs and his wife, Karen, and their son, Jonathan; Gary Hayungs;Randy Hayungs; Sherri Logemann and her husband, Bruce, and their children, April and Amber; Paula Davis and her husband, Scott, and their son, Zachary;Debra Witten and her children, Stacey and Samantha; Denise Senn and her husband, Tom, and their children, Amanda and Aaron and Douglas Smith and his wife, Althea and their children, Alison, Derek and Daniel; and a sister, Mrs. Frances Sonius, of Woden. She was preceded in death by her husband, John, on April 18, 1980; her parents; five sisters and two brothers. Cataldo Funeral Chapel.
