BELMOND - Marie Dirksen, 85, died Thursday (June 24, 1999) at North Iowa Mercy Health Center, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the First Reformed Church, Alexander, with the Rev. Gerald Norman officiating. Interment will be in the Alexander Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. today at the Tenold Funeral Home, Belmond, and will continue one hour prior to service time at the church on Monday.

Marie (Kuhlers) Dirksen, the daughter of Albert and Grace (Vierkant) Kuhlers, was born on April 9, 1914, near Meservey. She was baptized as an infant in the Meservey Reformed Church in Meservey. Marie attended and graduated from the Heidelburg Catechism. She made her confession of faith and was a member of the Meservey Reformed Church. On Dec. 15, 1938, Marie was united in marriage to Louis Dirksen. The couple lived on their farm north of Alexander and had two children, Karen Bobst and Robert Dirksen. After marriage, Marie became an active and faithful member of the First Reformed Church in Alexander. She was a member of the Dorcas Society, the Ladies Aid, and later, the Reformed Church Women's Association (R.C.W.). Marie and Louis moved into Belmond in November 1979. Marie enjoyed her home and her flowers. She also very much enjoyed her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Louis Dirksen, of Belmond; daughter, Karen Bobst and her husband, LeRoy, of New Hampton; two grandsons, Jeffery Bobst and his wife, Twila, of Waverly, and Justin Bobst and his wife, Lonna, of Alexander; six great-grandchildren, Jessica, Dana, Erin and Kari Bobst of Waverly, and Jeremie and Lea Bobst of Alexander; two sisters, Alice Dirks and Alvina Kuhlers, both of Belmond; and one brother, Carl Kuhlers and his wife, Shirley, of Belmond. She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Robert in 1987; and siblings, Herman Kuhlers, Reka Pals, Albert Kuhlers, George Kuhlers and Grace Mennenga. Tenold Funeral Home.
