05/01/1996Don L. Hanson, 58, of Garner, died Monday (April 29, 1996) at Muse Norris Hospice Inpatient Unit, Mason City. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Boniface Catholic Church with the Rev. John W. Hemann officiating. Burial will be in St. Boniface Catholic Cemetery with graveside military rites by the Garner Veterans Ceremonial Unit. Visitation will be held from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the Cataldo Funeral Chapel, 160 E. Fourth St., with a Scriptural wake service
at 8 p.m.Donald Lester Hanson, the son of Freeman L. and Dorothy J. (Davis) Hanson, was born Nov. 28, 1937, at Clarion. He attended school at Clarion and then served his country in the U.S. Navy aboard an aircraft carrier in the Pacific fleet. He returned to Clarion where he worked at the Clarion elevator. On July 22, 1972, he was married to Roxanne R. Rogers at Fort Dodge. The couple made their home in Clarion and later moved to Meservey in 1976 where Don was employed by the Klemme elevator. In 1977 they moved to Garner where he began working for Standard Fertilizer and later with G & G Ag Services. Don enjoyed fishing, boating, golfing, football and lawn work. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Roxanne Hanson of Garner; three children, Tanya Hanson of West Union, Don Hanson Jr. of Garner, and Theresa Tedrow and her husband, Ben, of Garner; two grandchildren, Tory Hanson and Samanatha Jo Tedrow; one brother, Jerry Hanson and his wife, Karla, of Des Moines; two sisters, Irene Hoyt and her husband, Owen, of Mesa, Ariz., and Betty Westrum of Albert Lea, Minn.; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and twin infant brothers.
