Lila B. Veldhouse, 96, of Clarion, died Thursday (Dec. 5, 1996) at the Clarion Health Care Center. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Willim Funeral Home, with the Rev. Charles Kellogg of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Cemetery, Kanawha. Visitation will be held from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Lila B. Veldhouse was born May 21, 1900, in Hazelton. Survivors include nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.

CLARION -- Lila B. Veldhouse, 96, Clarion, died Dec. 5, 1996, at the Clarion Health Care Center.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at Chapel of Willim Funeral Home, Clarion, with the Rev. Charles Kellogg officiating. Burial will be in Amsterdam Cemetery, Kanawha. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Survivors include two stepdaughters; eight grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyman and Cora Zimmerman Judd; her husband, Nick P. Veldhouse; a brother, Darrel; and sisters Dorotha, Clella, and Nora.

Lila B. Judd was born May 21, 1900, on a farm near Hazleton. She was raised, educated and graduated from high school in Hazleton. She then worked at the Iowa State Bank in Hazleton. In 1930, she attended Pitzie's Beauty School in Waterloo. She then worked in Oelwein. In 1938, she came to Clarion and worked at Butler's Beauty Shop, and in 1946 she opened the Hotel Beauty Shop. In 1948, she married Nick Veldhouse at Fort Dodge. She retired in 1974. Her husband died in 1991. She was a member of the Clarion United Methodist Church.
