David D. Morris

March 13, 1938 – December 2, 2022

David D. Morris, age 84, of Edmond, Oklahoma, passed away December 2, 2022, after a brief illness.

David was born March 13, 1938, in Belmond, Iowa to Ollie (Pete) Dewain and LaVonne Ester (Hill) Morris.

The family moved to Ellendale, Minnesota where Dave graduated from Ellendale High School in 1956. After High School he attended various IBM training classes on software programming for Wilson & Co. Dave started work for Wilson & Co., in Albert Lea, Minnesota in 1956 as a Computer Programmer. In 1975 he was transferred to Wilson Foods Corporate Headquarters in Oklahoma City, OK. He took early retirement in 1995.

On August 13, 1976, Dave married Bonnie in Edmond, OK. Dave bought his first POA (Pony of The Americas) in 1967. He and Bonnie raised several Supreme Champions. They loved traveling with their family to horse shows around the Country, in fact they have shown in 25 states. Dave spent many years volunteering for the Pony of the Americas club serving on the National Board of Directors for 15 years, as well as the OK State Club President. Dave also served on The Pony of the Americas Hall of Fame Committee since 1994. In 2002 he was inducted into the POAC Hall Of Fame and became a Bronze Premier Breeder.

Dave is survived by his wife of 46 years, Bonnie (Christianson) Morris. Children; Kevin and Teresa Morris, Minnesota, Michele Morris, Texas; Jodi (Morris) and David Phillips, Texas; Keith Morris, Texas; Tom and Angela Morris, Kentucky; Susie (Crane) and Robert Hampton, Oklahoma, Chris and Sherri Crane, Oklahoma; Rich and DeAnn Crane, Oklahoma. He is also survived by 16 Grandchildren and 19 Great Grandchildren. His brother Donald Morris and sister Karen Hunt both of Albert Lea, Minnesota, and several nieces and nephews.

Dave was preceded in death by his parents Ollie “Pete” and LaVonne Morris, Daughter-in-law Diana Morris and Brother-in-law John Hunt.

Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2022 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel, Edmond, OK.
