Wednesday, November 1, 2000Deane T. Flett, 78, Clarion, died Sunday, Oct. 29, 2000 at USA Health Care of Clarion at the age of 78. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Clarion with the Rev. Charles Kellogg officiating. Burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
Deane Truman Flett was born April 13, 1922 in Iowa Falls, the son of Henry Arthur and Lois Marie Sutton Flett. He was raised and educated in Dows, graduating from Dows High School in 1941. In 1942, he moved with his family to a farm southwest of Clarion where he lived until moving to town in 1993. He married Naomi Brown in September of 1950. She preceded him in death in October of 1975. He later married Cecilia Kollasch in 1980. In 1965, he went to work for Frigidaire in Webster City, retiring in 1984. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clarion, the Odd Fellows, North Iowa Antique Tractor Club and the NRA.
Survivors are his son, Merrill Flett, Webster City, daughters, Donna Keller of Clarion, Lois Johnson of Des Moines and Brenda Vilman of Ames; two grandchildren, two step-grandsons and one step-great-granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Naomi, brother James D. Flett and a sister in infancy.
