Emma C. Middleton, 89, longtime Webster City resident, died Sunday morning, March 1 at the Hamilton County hospital where she had been a patient the past 10 days. She had been in ill health the past month.

Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Foster Funeral home with the Rev. Paul D. Williamson officiating and with burial in Graceland cemetery.

Emma Catherine Hansen, daughter of Henry and Mary Schroder Hansen, was born Aug. 12, 1891 at Modale, Iowa. She was reared and educated there.

Feb. 19, 1910 she was married to James E. Middleton, and the couple moved from Modale to Woolstock in 1928. The couple moved to Webster City in 1943, where Mr. Middleton was employed by the city of Webster City. He preceded her in death in April, 1969 and she continued to live at 301 Elm St.

She is survived by two sons and four daughters, Harold Middleton of Fort Dodge, Mrs. R.W. (Wilma) Tubbs of Long Beach, Calif., Elena Jensen of Webster City, Helen Tubbs of Buena Park, Calif., Albert Middleton of Webster City and Mrs. Robert (Shirley) Mitchell of Webster City; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Irma Wilhelm of Montebello, Calif.; and two brothers, Glenn Hansen of Cedar Bluffs, Neb., and Albert Hansen of Smithwick, S.D. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by two sons and one daughter, both parents, two sisters and six brothers.

She was a member of Asbury United Methodist church.
