Jane Irene Umthun

Jane Irene Umthun was born April 13, 1939, the daughter of Stephen and Verona Holtkamp Umthun at St. Paul, Iowa [Minnesota].

Handicapped since birth, she lived with her parents until 1973 when she entered Handicapped Village in Clear Lake.

Jane Irene Umthun died Sunday, August 22, 1993, following a short illness at St. Joseph's Mercy Hospital in Mason City. She was 54 years, four months and nine days of age.

She was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her four brothers, Joe, Virgil and Mark Umthun, all of Eagle Grove, and Frank Umthun of Mediapolis; six sisters, Generosa Benton of Omaha, Neb., Mrs. Arthur (Dorene) Hauer and Mrs. Charles (Mary Ann) Powell, both of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Darwin (Bernadette) Jorgenson of Omaha, and Mrs. Stephen (Donna) Culmer of Eagle Grove; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, August 24 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove, with Father Wayne Droessler officiating at the 10:30 a.m. Mass of the Resurrection. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
