Bernice Augusta “Bernie” Jergensen Nerem

August 1, 1914 --- August 27, 1993

Bernice A. Nerem was born August 1, 1914 in Clarion to Gudman and Julia (Anderson) Jergensen. She attended grade school in the Holmes and Clarion area, and graduated from Clarion High School in 1933.

She married Selmer Nerem July 29, 1941 in Eagle Grove. Following their marriage, the couple farmed in the Renwick area then moved into Renwick. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, the St. Paul's Ladies Aid and the Federated Women's Club.

Bernice A. Nerem died Thursday, August 27, 1993 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines at the age of 79.

She was preceded in death by her parents; seven brothers and three sisters. She is survived by her husband; sons, Dennis, and Scott, both of Renwick, and Keith and his wife Sheryl of Webster City; daughters, Kathy and her husband, Vernon Kamp of Renwick, and Wendie Nerem of Grimes; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; sisters, Clarice Crum of Johnston, Violet Jergensen and Rosetta Middleton, both of Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held Monday, August 30 at 10 a.m. at the St. Paul Lutheran Church in Renwick. The Rev. Herbert Schiller officiated. Interment was in Lake Lutheran Cemetery, rural Goldfield.
