Julius Dahlberg Jacobsen
July 28, 1905 --- August 27, 1993

Julius Dahlberg [Dolberg] Jacobsen was born July 28, 1905, at Jacksonville, Iowa, the son of John and Bertha Nielsen Jacobsen. He was educated in the rural Jacksonville school.

He farmed for several years. He married Violet Martha Pehl of Wright County on December 10, 1931 at the Baptist parsonage in Goldfield. The couple farmed north of Holmes until moving to Goldfield in 1940. They moved to Thor in 1951 and Eagle Grove in 1968. He was custodian at the Security Savings Bank in Eagle Grove for a number of years after his retirement from farming. The couple moved to the Rotary Ann Apartments in Eagle Grove, November 27, 1989 and to the nursing facility at the Rotary Ann Home, August 30, 1991. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Evergreen Sporting Association and the Eagle Grove Senior Citizens.

Julius Dahlberg Jacobsen died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion Friday, August 28, [27] 1993, at the age of 88 years and one month.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; brothers, Nels, Carl, and Einar and sisters, Marie Smith and Alma Rasmussen. He is survived by one son, Robert and his wife Kay, of Waukee; one daughter, Patricia and her husband Derwin Lester, of Grand Meadow, Minn.; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Erna Lange, Elkhorn; and Berdine Masters of Portland, Ore.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove at 11 a.m., Monday, August 30. The Rev. Omar Pettersen, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
