Orval P. Jones, 55, died suddenly at his home Tuesday, September 2 at about 4 a. m. The Jones family had been enjoying a family reunion Sunday and Monday and Mr. Jones had gone to bed early Monday night.

During the night he awoke and told his wife that he wasn't feeling well. A doctor was called and death came due to a heart attack shortly after.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p. m. Thursday (today) September 4 in the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church. Burial will be in the Goldfield cemetery. Pastor K. R. Torvik will have charge of the services and Rev. T. J. Severtson of Renwick will preach the sermon.

Orval Jones has been streets commissioner of Eagle Grove for the past 21 years and is well known to every resident of the city. He has been employed by the city for over 30 years serving at first under Wm. Wehrheim former streets commissioner.

As a long time, city employee his knowledge of water mains, sewer mains and streets has been of inestimable value to the city. Under his direction the streets department has acquired much new and modern machinery. Of late years he has endeared himself to the merchants for the efficient manner in which snow removal and street repair has been carried out.

He is survived by his wife and seven children all of whom had been home for the family get together.

Orval P. Jones born November 3, 1896 at Holmes, Iowa, died suddenly at his Eagle Grove home September 2, 1952.

As a child he resided briefly at Dolliver and Ceylon, Minnesota, moving to Eagle Grove with his parents Mr. and Mrs. George A. Jones. He attended Eagle Grove schools until he enlisted in the army of World War I. After two years of military service, he returned to Eagle Grove and was employed for a time by the C. & NW. R. R. and the Iowa Public Service. About 1921 he was employed by the City of Eagle Grove and for the past twenty-one years served as city street commissioner.

On January 7, 1919, he married Ruby Uhr. To this union were born seven children, who, with his wife, all survive him: Robert of Eagle Grove; Betty, Mrs. Glen Lenning of Humboldt; Beverly, Mrs. Richard Fisher, of Clarion; Donald of Cedar Rapids; Marilyn, Mrs. Kervin Mosher of Mason City; Gerald of Manson, and David of Eagle Grove. Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. W. W. (Ellen) Miller of Waterloo and Mrs. J. E. Smith (Elizabeth) of Idaho Springs, Colorado, and twelve grandchildren.

Eagle Grove—Funeral services for Orval Price Jones, 55, who died suddenly here Tuesday, were held at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church Thursday, afternoon. The Rev., Kenneth Torvik and the Rev. T. J. Severtson officiated. Burial was in the Goldfield Cemetery.

Mr. Jones was first appointed street commissioner in Eagle Grove in 1931. He had previously worked many years for the city. He was a resident of the city for 50 years. He was a native of Holmes, Iowa.

Survivors include his wife, and seven children. They are Robert of Eagle Grove; Mrs. Glen Lenning, Humboldt; Mrs. Richard Fisher, Clarion; Donald, Cedar Rapids; Mrs. Kervin Mosher, Mason City; Gerald of Manson, and David at home. Also, two sisters, Mrs, W. W. Miller of Waterloo and Mrs. Jack Smith of Idaho Springs, Colo.
