David Irving Christensen was born to Irving Lavern and Hannah Evelyn Ritland Christensen on Saturday, August 26, 1933, in Eagle Grove, Iowa. He graduated from Elkader, Iowa, in 1951, and from State University of Iowa, Iowa City, College of Business in 1958. He served in the U. S. Army for two years (1954 and 1955), serving in both Germany and White Sands, Texas. He served as a member of the military police.

He married Mary Jean Kluver of Charter Oak, Iowa, on November 9, 1957, in Iowa City. He worked as a sales agent for many years, first Supersweet Feed Company in Des Moines and New Hampton, Iowa; then a plant manager at Rath Packing Company at Waterloo. He then joined the Farm Bureau Insurance Company in McGregor, Iowa. Farm Bureau moved him to Des Moines. In 1967, he joined Central States Insurance Company in Omaha where he lived for the rest of his life. He later worked for Blue -Cross/Blue Shield in Omaha. In 1984, he established the Sparkle Wash Company in Omaha, which he operated until his death.

He was the grandson of Chris and Molly Christensen who started the Christensen Shoe Store in Eagle Grove in 1909. He spent many summers in Eagle Grove.

David Irving Christensen died recently in Omaha, Neb. Survivors include his wife, Omaha, Neb.; 3 children, Lisa Ann and husband, Andrew J. Cook, Omaha, Lori Jo and husband, Gerald Fillbach, Omaha, and Craig David Christensen, and wife, Olivia J., Los Angeles; 5 grandchildren; his mother, Omaha; and a brother, Roger, Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his father.
