Funeral services were held on Monday for Olive E. Werstein of Renwick, mother of Melvin Haugland, staff member at the EAGLE GROVE EAGLE office. The services were at 1:30 p.m. at the United Methodist Church in Renwick with burial in Glenwood cemetery, Goldfield.

Mrs. Werstein, who died Thursday, March 13 at the Clarion hospital following a week's illness, was born August 27, 1911 in Bogota, Ill., the daughter of Bertha Stanley Reed and Albert Reed.

She came to the Renwick community in 1942. On June 28, 1963 she was married to Sam Werstein in Renwick.

Survivors include her husband, Sam; three sons, Eugene Haugland, Sherburn, Minn.; Melvin Haugland, Eagle Grove, and Myron Haugland of Boone; and one daughter, Mrs. Eugene (Shirley) Fisher of Prophetstown, Ill. Step-children surviving include Donna Mullen, Newport News, Va.; Mrs. Newton (Darlene) Bryant, Mason City; Roger Werstein, Richmond, Va.; Ronald Werstein, Princeton, Ky.; Mrs. Roger (Theresa) Gabel, Mason City; Richard Werstein, Newport News, Va.; 25 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. Other survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Bernice Wergeland, Hardy, and Mrs. Betty Thompson of Humboldt, and two brothers, Lester Reed, Eagle Grove and Robert Reed, Sparta, Mo. She was preceded in death by one brother, her parents, a son, one grandson and one great-grandson. The Blake Funeral Home, Renwick, was in charge of arrangements.
