GERTRUDE (BACHEL) WEHRHEIM
Gertrude L. Wehrheim, the daughter of George and Caroline Jarosh Bachel, was born June 19, 1890 at Fort Atkinson, Iowa. Later, she moved with her parents to St. Cloud, Minn., where she grew up and received her education. In June of 1911, she was united in marriage with Michael Wehrheim of Eagle Grove at St. Cloud. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove and to this union were born seven children. The family farmed near Eagle Grove until 1944, when Michael and Gertrude moved into Eagle Grove. Mr. Wehrheim died in 1961.Mrs. Wehrheim was a long-time member of the Sacred Heart Church. She was widely known for her cooking
ability and she loved to garden and raise flowers. She died on Thursday evening, August 2nd, 1984, at the Clarion Care Center in Clarion, where she had been a resident for the past two years, at the age of 94 years and 14 days.Surviving are two daughters, Eileen Miller of San Diego, Calif.; and Margaret, Mrs. Charles Jones of Ames; two sons, George Wehrheim of Corpus Christi, Texas and Bob Wehrheim of Denver, Colo.; 5 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Carrie Kresbach of Flint, Mich., and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and an infant daughter and two sons, Jack and Conrad, and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Wehrheim were held on Monday, Aug. 6, 1984, at 10:30 a. m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Fr. Paul R. Peters, church pastor, officiated and burial was in the Calvary Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Sunday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
