Services for former Eagle Grove resident
Funeral services for Mrs. Hettie Middleton, 88, of Clarion, were held on Saturday morning at eleven o'clock at the United Methodist Church with Rev. Myron U. Brockmeyer officiating. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove and the Eyler-Willim Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.

Mrs. Middleton died early Thanksgiving morning at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion where she had been a patient since Nov. 19. Casket bearers for the funeral were Jack Middleton, Clifford and David McVicker, Richard and Jerry Woodin and Frank Mechem. Special organ and piano music was by Betty Loomis and Marjorie Vander Berg.

Lillian M. (Hettie) Warnes was born at Eagle Grove on Dec. 1, 1889 and was the daughter of W. E. and Elizabeth Flatman Warnes. She grew to womanhood in the area of her birth and was married to Guy J. Middleton at Eagle Grove on March 5, 1913. After their marriage they farmed near Eagle Grove then moved to a farm near Clarion in 1922 where they farmed until retiring to Eagle Grove in 1948. In 1963 they returned to Clarion. Mr. Middleton died in June of 1967.

She is survived by four sons: David of Wapato, Wash.; Frank of Clarion, Richard of Belmond and Robert of Riverside, Calif. She is also survived by seven grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Her parents, husband, a brother and three sisters preceded her in death.

Mrs. Middleton was an active member of the United Methodist Church and belonged to the U.M.W., Isabella Thoburn Circle and Boosters Class. She also was a member of the Ada Chapter of the O.E.S. in Clarion and was a former member of the White Shrine in Eagle Grove, and the Country Cousins.
