William R. Roosa was born August 11, 1924 at Iowa Falls. He was the son of James J. and Goldie J. Sarber Roosa and grew up at Charles City and Toledo. In 1941 he moved to Clarion. He married Dolores P. Paine at the Clarion Church of Christ on November 25,1942. He worked at the Clarion Farmers Cooperative Elevator for 27 years, spending most of those years in the fertilizer department. He retired in 1980 after suffering a stroke. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clarion.

William R. Roosa, 64, died at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines on Tuesday, February 14, 1989. He had been a patient there since Friday.

He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother and a sister, Alice. Survivors include his wife, Dolores; four sons, Steven R., Larrabee; Timothy M. and Patrick, both of Eagle Grove; Russell W., stationed with the Air Force in Japan; a daughter, Mrs. Randy (Jane F.) Raper, Norwalk; five grandchildren; four sisters, June Isenberger, Garner; Agnes Shankwieler, Charles City; Velma Brewer, Marshalltown; and Vie Ferguson, Georgia; and a brother, Wesley of Bellingham, Wash.

Funeral services were conducted at the First United Methodist Church in Clarion, Friday, February 17 at 11 a.m. The Rev. Jerald G. Swanberg officiated and the Eyler-Willim Funeral home was in charge of the arrangements. After the funeral, the body was cremated.
