Arvin A. Jorgensen was born December 2, 1911, on a farm near Holmes, Iowa, to Anton and Nellie Nelson Jorgensen. He attended country school at Holmes and Clarion Public High School. He lived on a farm near Holmes in his younger years, where he farmed with his dad and two brothers, but had lived in Fort Dodge most of his adult life. He worked for Coats Manufacturing Company as a machinist until he retired and later worked for Kautzky Lazy Ike. He attended Holmes Lutheran Church in his younger years.

Arvin "Irv" A. Jorgensen died Saturday, May 16, 1998, at Friendship Haven in Fort Dodge at the age of 86.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Jorgensen, Fort Dodge, and Carol Jorgensen, Strawberry Point; several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Marvin, Lincoln, Gordon, and Kenneth, and a sister-in-law, Eva.

Services were held on Tuesday, May 19, 1998, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove at 1:30 p.m. with Reverend Franz Schemmel officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield. Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements.
