Loyd Oscar Olson was born in Eagle Grove on Sept. 26, 1894, the son of Ole Martin and Martha Frowick Olson [Oleson]. He died at his home in Goldfield on Thursday afternoon, Sept. 11, 1980 at the age of 85 years, 11 months and 15 days.

He attended schools in the Eagle Grove area and the Jewell Lutheran College at Jewell. He was united in marriage with Nora Ranum on Dec. 28, 1919 at Mt. Horeb, Wisc. They lived and farmed in Evergreen neighborhood until moving to Goldfield in 1960. He was a member of the United Methodist Church of Goldfield, the Evergreen Sporting Association, the Sons of Norway and Fan Club.

He is survived by two daughters: Betty Lou, Mrs. Richard Young of Clarion; Darcia, Mrs. Vernon Christensen of rural Eagle Grove; four grandchildren; three greatgrandchildren and six sisters: Mrs. Leland Allbaugh of Knoxville, Tenn.; Mrs. Edith Melaas of Des Moines; Mrs. Jeannette Hill of Tulsa, Okla.; Mrs. Sylvia Larson of Minneapolis, Minn.; Mrs. K. K. Boyd of Cincinnati, Ohio and Mrs. J. R. Ashpole of Clarion. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Nora, who died in 1976.

Funeral services for Loyd O. Olson were held on Monday at 2 p. m., at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield. Rev. Lester Hancock, church pastor, officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation for family and friends was held at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home, Eagle Grove.
