Mrs. Clara Nelsen, 79, died at her home on North Commercial Ave. Thursday morning, May 7, after a short illness.

Funeral services were held Saturday afternoon at Mount Calvary Lutheran Church with the pastor Rev. O. E. Weiss officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield.

Mrs. Nelsen is survived by three sisters, Mrs. Matilda Rolland, Blair, Neb.; Mrs. Peter Krey, Norfolk, Neb.; and Mrs. Joseph Jantsch.

Mrs. Johnson came here in 1944 and had a music studio at her home. She was also a registered nurse and served during World War I.

Clara Theodora Larsen was born November 7, 1890 at Orum, Neb. She was the daughter of Rev. Anders Larsen and his wife, Matilda Iverson Larsen.

She was baptized into the christian faith in the church at Orum. She was confirmed by her father, Rev. A. Larsen, on August 30, 1905.

She attended the Lutheran Seminary Conservative of Music, Red Wing, Minn. She graduated as a registered nurse from La Cross Lutheran Hospital, La Cross, Wisc. She served as a nurse in World War I. She practiced nursing and also taught music for many years.

She was intensely interested in nature, especially in wild flowers and insects being on display at the University of Wisconsin and several smaller colleges. Her work has inspired many to love nature and the outdoors. She was also an avid student of the Bible and not afraid nor ashamed to confess her faith in speech and writing.

She came to Eagle Grove in 1944 and married Martin Johnson, who died in 1951. On August 9, 1961 she was married to Edward Nelsen, who died in 1965. She was a member of the Mount Calvary Lutheran Church.

Clara passed from this life at her home in Eagle Grove, Thursday morning. She was 79 years, 6 months of age at the time of her passing.

She was preceded in death by her parents: three brothers; two sisters; her husband, Martin; and her husband, Edward.

She is survived by three sisters: Mrs. Matilda Rolland, Blair, Neb.; (Esther) Mrs. Peter Krey, Norfolk, Nebr.; and (Dora) Mrs. Joseph Jantsch, Spokane, Wash.

Rev. and Mrs. Peter Krey, Norfolk, Nebr.; Mrs. Robert Foelber, Great Lakes, Ill.; and her mother, Mrs. Nita Paulson, Dayton, Ohio, were dinner guests on Friday evening of Pastor and Mrs. O. E. Weiss. The women are sisters and niece of the late Clara Nelsen and were here for the funeral.
