PAULINE GRAVES
Pauline Edris Nelson was born on December 19, 1914, the daughter of Earl Helmer and Ethel Mae Atteberry Nelson at Goldfield, Iowa. She was raised and educated in Goldfield and graduated from the Goldfield High School. She then attended business college in Des Moines, Iowa. On March 2, 1939, she was united in marriage to Leo Bartzen at Goldfield. They farmed in Humboldt county until her husband's death in December of 1969. She then returned to Goldfield.

On July 9, 1983, she was united in marriage to Gerard "Bud" Graves, at Goldfield. They made their home in Goldfield until 1997, when they moved to The Meadows, in Clarion, Iowa. She had been at the Community Memorial Hospital since May 25, 2000, until the time of her death.

Pauline Graves died Monday, July 10, 2000, at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion at the age of 85. Survivors include her husband, Gerard "Bud," Clarion; one daughter, Jean Basinger and husband, William, Des Moines; one brother, Douglas Nelson and wife Milly, Goldfield; two step-daughters: Joan Axon and husband, Gary, Ashland, Ore., and Linda Riley, and husband, Lynn, Eagle Grove, Iowa; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 4 step grandchildren; and 2 step-greatgrandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband, Leo; and one brother, Marshall Nelson.

Funeral services were held Thursday, July 13, 2000, 2 p.m. at the United Methodist Church, Goldfield, with Reverend Karen Dearchs officiating. Burial was held in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Willim Funeral Home of Clarion was in charge of the arrangements.
