Jim D. Hill, 63, of Omaha, Neb., and formerly of Eagle Grove, died suddenly on February 1, 2004, at his home. Funeral services were held on February 5, 2004 at the Lutheran Church of the Master, Omaha Nebraska with interment at the Evergreen Memorial Park, Omaha Nebraska.

Jim D. Hill was born December 11, 1940 on a farm west of Eagle Grove, Iowa, [in Norway township, Humboldt county, Iowa], the son of Alva D. and Anne (Cerny) Hill. He graduated from Goldfield High School in 1958. Jim was active in all sports during high school excelling in track. Growing up, Jim was active in the Evergreen Sporting Association and 4-H. He had the grand champion steer at the Humboldt County Fair in 1953. Jim attended Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa, majoring in forestry and wildlife. He joined the US Army and served three years at Scott Air Force Base outside of St. Louis, Missouri. On February 16, 1963 Jim married his high school sweetheart, Caren E. Edwards at Lake Lutheran Church in rural Renwick, Iowa. Jim and Caren made their home in Ames where Jim returned to ISU, graduating with a business administration degree and a minor in forestry and wildlife. Upon graduation, the family moved to Omaha, Nebraska and made their home there for the next 37 years.

To this union, three sons where born. Jim devoted his life to his kids. Jim is survived by and will be greatly missed by his loving wife of 40 years, Caren, three sons and their families; Scott and Susan Hill, Ashley, Austin, and Taylor of Valley, Nebraska, Brad and Gina Hill, Dylan and Paige, Jeff and Tessa Hill, Morgan and Turner of Omaha, Nebraska, his mother. Anne Hill of Tampa, Florida; one sister and her husband, Joy and Dale Frank, of Charles City, and one brother and his wife, John and Kristin Hill of Tampa, Florida. Jim is also survived by many aunts, nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his father, Alva D. Hill, and his paternal and maternal grandparents.
