Lori L. (Thurmond) Smalley Fragola
February 21, 1963 --- June 9, 2020

Lori L. Fragola, 57, passed away unexpectedly on June 9, 2020 at Banner Baywood Hospital in Mesa, Arizona.

She was born on February 21, 1963 in Eagle Grove, Iowa to Dennis and Sandra Thurmond. She then moved to Arizona in 1986 with her then husband, Randy Smalley and daughter, Dawn Smalley. They later had a son, Ian Smalley. After some time, Lori and Randy divorced. Eventually, Lori met the man who changed her life forever; she met her soulmate Rick Fragola. Lori and Rick married on August 24, 2002 in Gilbert, Arizona.

Lori was a very hard worker. At first she spent some time as an apartment manager. She then dedicated herself and her loyalty of 20+ years to Albertson's, where she worked as a scan coordinator. Lori lived her life in the most beautiful way and loved with everything she had. She was surrounded by people whom she loved and who loved her in return. She always put others before herself. Her heart was so incredibly loving that it touched each person she met with happiness and laughter. Her love for simple adventures is always something to be remembered; whether it was riding her motorcycle, or simply walking the beach at sunrise to see what she could find. Lori truly enjoyed playing alongside her children and grandchildren, be it creating beautiful stained glass masterpieces or playing old retro video games. Lori loved dragonflies so much that she had one tattooed on her forearm as her spirit animal.

Lori is survived by her husband, Rick Fragola; her daughter, Dawn Buchanan; her son, Ian Smalley; her father, Dennis Thurmond; her mother, Sandra Jamison; her brother, Denny Thurmond; her step children, Shaun and Amanda, Matt and Nickie, and Dallas and Justin; her grandchildren, Cassandra, Audrey, Isabelle, Callen, Zeppelin, Wesson, Dylan, and Maverick; and many other family members.

Family, friends, and others whose life she had touched are invited to reminisce, grieve, support each other, and ultimately celebrate her life. Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, June 25 at Mariposa Gardens Memorial Park, located at 6747 E. Broadway Rd. in Mesa.
