Madli Ovrehus Wetterhus
10 October 1899 --- 17 March 1986

Madli Wetterhus, the daughter of Samson and Kristianna Fureberg Ovrehus, was born on October 10, 1899 at Mauranger, Norway. She grew up in Norway and was baptized and confirmed. In 1926, she came to the United States and on February 9, 1927, she was united in marriage with Tom L. Wetterhus at Roelyn, Iowa. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove and to this union were born three daughters, Kristine, Thelma and Elizabeth. Mr. Wetterhus died in 1982.

She was a long time member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Women and was a long time member of the group of ladies that quilted at the church and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary.

She died early Monday morning, March 17, 1986, at the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove at the age of 86 years, five months and 10 days.

She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Kristine and Don Schipull of rural Goldfield, Thelma and Kenneth Lester of rural New Hampton, Elizabeth and Roy Azinger of Cairo, Egypt; 10 grandchildren; six great grandchildren; a sister, Maria Bru, who lives in Odda, Norway, and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a sister, Herborg, and four brothers, Johannes, Kristian, Martin and Samson.

Funeral services for Mrs. Madli Wetterhus, 86, of Eagle Grove, were held on Friday, March 21, 1986 at 1:30 p.m. at the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Schaedig, church pastor, officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Thursday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
