Ruby Almina Woodard Newcomb
13 October 1890 ---- 15 November 1983

Ruby Almina Newcomb, daughter of Richard and Mary Agnes Ley Woodward, was born on Oct. 13, 1890 on a farm in Troy Township south of Eagle Grove. She grew up on the family farm and attended the rural schools. On March 30, 1910, she was united in marriage with Archie Gordon Newcomb at Troy Township, Eagle Grove. After their marriage, they lived in Eagle Grove and later moved to a farm in Troy Township, where they lived until 1950, when they moved back into Eagle Grove. For several years, they owned and operated the Eagle Grove Trailer Park. Mr. Newcomb died on Nov. 5, 1966. Mrs. Newcomb continued to live in the family home on South Commercial, where she died on Friday evening, Nov. 15, 1983, at the age of 93 years and 32 days.

She was a long-time member of the United Methodist Church, the Worth While Class of the Eagle Grove church and the Troy Culture Club and was also an Honorary member of the Martha Circle of the United Methodist Women.

She is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Margaret MacDonald and Mrs. Pauline Weland, both of Eagle Grove; June, Mrs. Gene Patterson of Sweet Home, Oregon; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Marcy Watson of Escondido, Calif.; and other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Hazel Newcomb and two brothers, Roy and Lee Woodard.

Funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Newcomb, 93, of Eagle Grove, were held on Saturday, Nov. 19, 1963 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Eagle Grove. Rev. Scott Hall officiated and burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove. Visitation was held on Friday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home.
