Funeral services for Arthur Jergenson, 87, of Eagle Grove were held January 14, 1997, at 10 a.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with the Rev. Alice Horton officiating. Burial was in the Rose Hill Cemetery at Eagle Grove. The Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of arrangements.

Arthur Jergenson died Friday, January 10,1997 at Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion. He was born October 5, 1908, the son of Ole and Christina Johnsen Jergenson on a farm in Dayton Township in Wright County. He grew up on the family farm and attended school in Dayton Township. He farmed the family farm and on March 14, 1936, he was united in marriage to Cordelle Irene Duitscher of Clarion at the Baptist Parsonage in Goldfield with Pastor Ira D. Halverson officiating.

The couple farmed east of Eagle Grove for fourteen years on the Ida Higgin farm. In 1950 they moved to a farm they purchased north of Holmes on the Renwick blacktop. They were members of St. John's Lutheran Church, rural Kanawha. On December 18, 1977, Arthur and Cordelle returned to membership at Evangelical Lutheran Church, the home church where Arthur was baptized and later confirmed.

Arthur became ill with heart failure in 1990 but still kept an active interest in the operation of the farm. Farming was his life interest, as were family, friends, gardening, fishing and bowling.

Survivors include his wife Cordelle, son Willis and his wife Barbara; daughter Linda Blau and husband Don; six grandchildren and one sister, Mrs. William Eaton (Selma). He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers George, Ode, Chris, and Selmer; sisters Celia Peterson, Gertie Johnson; Lindie Bruhl, Clara Bruhl, Beatrice Mathias and Edna Jergenson.
