Anna Carothers Marley
30 June 1863 --- 7 September 1954

Anna Carothers Marley, daughter of Rev. and Mrs. Issac Carothers was born June 30, 1863 near Bloomington, Ind., and passed away Sept. 8, 1954 at the age of 91 years, 2 months, and 7 days.

She was raised in a Christian home, her father being a Baptist minister. Living near Trinity Springs during her married life, she became a member of the Church of Christ there.

She had 2 sisters and 4 brothers all preceding her in death. She grew to womanhood and went to school in the vicinity of Bloomington.

On June 19, 1884 she was united in marriage to Alonzo Marley at Trinity Springs, Ind. To this union were born two girls and 2 boys: Herbert J. Marley, deceased; Ethel, Mrs. Clyde Sims; Amanda, Mrs. Jim McCart, of Eagle Grove; and George Marley of Maywood, Ill.

Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Marley farmed for many years near Trinity Springs and later operated a hotel in that small community. In 1936 they came to Eagle Grove to be near their children and returned to their home in 1939 where Mr. Marley passed away in 1940. Mrs. Marley had since made her home with her two daughters near Eagle Grove.

She leaves to mourn their loss her three children, eleven grandchildren and eight great grandchildren and many friends and neighbors in Indiana and Iowa.
