Lynn Arthur Sorensen was born January 20, 1930, at Goldfield, the son of Clarence and Mildred Richardson Sorensen.

He received his education in the Goldfield Public School graduating in 1947.

He farmed with his father until his father’s death in 1975, and continued the farm operation until his health forced him to retire.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Goldfield; Liberty Township Trustees; president of the Goldfield Rural Fire Association; chairman of the administrative council of the church for 20 years; a member of the board of directors of the Goldfield Farmers Co-op Elevator for six years; and a member of the Iowa National Guard for 11 years.

Lynn Sorensen died at the Community Memorial Hospital in Clarion June 5, 1992. He had entered the hospital on May 21 of this year. At the time of his death, he had attained the age of 62 years, four months and 15 days.

He was preceded in death by his father. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Leo (Mildred) Krips, Pocahontas; his wife, Shirley, Clarion; a son, Dan and his wife, Diane of Clarion; two daughters, Mrs. Robert (Penny) Walker, Clarion; and Mrs. Paul (Lynnda) Abels, Altoona; eight grandchildren, Lesle, Caia, and Jerome Abels, Ryan Romsey, Keaton and Tad Walker, and Gabriel and Jody Fiscus, a sister, Mrs. Harlan (Marjorie) Frakes, Goldfield; three nephews; four step-brothers; and four step-sisters.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in goldfield on June 9 with the Rev. James Seibert officiating at the 1 p.m. service. Burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Kastler-Babcock Services, Eagle Grove, was in charge of arrangements. –Goldfield Chronicle
