Herman Lloyd Hanson (1910-1989)

Herman Lloyd Hanson was born April 27, 1910, the son of Martin and Clara Larson Hanson at Elliott, Ill. He received his education in the Eagle Grove school system. He entered the United States Army in 1942, and received his honorable discharge in 1945.

He was united in marriage to Mabel Rasmussen on June 19, 1946, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. Herman was employed by the Northwestern Railroad in Goldfield while the couple was living in Dakota City. He then went into farming near Goldfield before moving to Livermore in 1952 to continue farming. He retired from farming in 1974. After the death of his wife in 1976, Herman moved to Eagle Grove in 1978.

He was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Livermore, and the American Legion in LuVerne.

Herman Lloyd Hanson died at his home on February 4, 1989, at the age of 79.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one brother, Albert; and three sisters, Mabel Deimerly, Florence Hanson and Savina Knutson. He is survived by one son, LeRoy of Livermore; one daughter, Mrs. Fred (Monnie) Steigleder, Humboldt; one brother, Otto, Fort Dodge; two sisters, Elsie Clark, Seattle, Wash.; and Agnes Ditzenberger, Fort Dodge; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services were held on February 7, at 1:30 p.m. at the Immanuel Lutheran Church in Livermore. The Rev. William Roth officiated, and burial was in Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.
