Peter S. Anderson, 76, died at the Mercy hospital at Des Moines on Friday morning. Mr. Anderson had gone to Des Moines the first of the week for medical advice and on Thursday morning he underwent an operation from which he rallied and seemed to be getting along nicely. Friday morning death came suddenly from a hemorrhage of the lung. Mr. Anderson has been in failing health the past year but was able to be around all the time and only two weeks before had received so much enjoyment in the anniversary of his 51st wedding day when his family and friends gathered at their home.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 at the home and two o’clock at the United Presbyterian church. Rev. R. M. McCracken had charge of the service and burial service was held in the Glenwood cemetery. Mrs. Charles Kastler and John Buhner of Eagle Grove had charge of the flowers.

On April 4, 1882, he was united in marriage to Miss Fransine Hansen. To this union were born ten children, eight of which survive him, two Rebecca and Jennie preceded him in death. As bride and groom, Mr. and Mrs. Anderson left Denmark and the journey from the old home at Snide to the new home in Goldfield was their wedding trip. They have made their home in the vicinity of Goldfield and for the last 32 years in the present family home. As he has always hoped it might, death came to him suddenly and on last Friday morning the call came suddenly.

There are left to mourn his departure, his wife and eight children, Mrs. D. C. Myers of St. Paul, Minn., Miss Elizabeth Anderson of Minneapolis, Mrs. C. R. We know not how to say the word good-bye,
We know not how to leave thee at the gate
That opens for thee toward that city high,
Where other hands with loving welcome wait.

We long shall miss thee as we go our ways,
The home will miss thee from it broken band.
Full many a tear will tell thy sober praise
And all good works will miss thy helping hand.

And yet Good-bye! good-bye! thou faithful one!
From toll and trouble thou hast earned release,
Thy weary feet are resting at the goal,
The pain of living ended in death’s peace.
