Hans Andrew Hanson
14 April 1854 --- 9 October 1926

H. A. Hanson, a former resident of Eagle Grove, passed away at his home in Fort Dodge, Iowa, Saturday, October 9, at 9:30 p.m. after a short illness. His death was due to acute intestinal trouble, complicated by uremic poisoning.

Mr. Hanson was born on April 14, 1854, in Norway, Europe, making him 72 years and 6 months old at the time of his demise. He came to this country in 1874 and located in Chicago, Ill., where he was united in marriage to Miss Karen Ross, also from Norway to which union four children were born. Mrs. Hanson passed away in Eagle Grove in March 1894. He was later united in marriage to Miss Tena Voil [Thone Vahl] and two children were born to this union.

Mr. Hanson moved from Fort Dodge to Eagle Grove in 1888, where he began an active business life as a merchant tailor, from which he retired in 1899 and made his residence in Fort Dodge.

He was a member of the United Lutheran church of this city.

Mr. Hanson was a successful businessman, believing in honesty as the best policy. He was a true American citizen, a kind and loving husband and father. He was well known in this community and had a host of friends here.

Mr. Hanson leaves to mourn their loss his wife and six children, as follows, Mrs. P. A. Roach, Saskatoon, Canada; J. P. Hanson, LeMars, Iowa; Dr. C. H. Hanson, Eagle Grove. Iowa; C. A. Hanson. New Orleans, La.; Mrs. T. E. Obermy, Cedar Rapids, Iowa; and Miss T[not legible] Hanson, Fort Dodge, Iowa.

The funeral services will be this (Thursday) at 1 p.m. at Young's funeral home in Fort Dodge and at 3 p.m. from the Lutheran church in Eagle Grove. Interment will be made in Rose Hill cemetery, Eagle Grove.
