Gordon Foster Paine
17 December 1897 --- 30 October 1972

Gordon Foster Paine was born December 17, 1897, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, the son of Warren A. and Anna Foster Paine. He was baptized in the Methodist Church by Rev. Southworth. He was educated in the Eagle Grove schools and attended the University of Iowa at Iowa City.

He was united in marriage to Avanelle Susanne Perry of Lansing, Michigan, at Lansing, on December 16, 1922. The couple returned to Iowa to make their home in January of 1923, settling near Eagle Grove. Gordon had farmed since 1923. He retired in 1968.

Gordon had been in ill health for about a year, and passed away at the Mercy Hospital, Fort Dodge, on Monday, October 30, at the age of 74 years, 10 months, and 13 days.

He is survived by his wife, one son, Perry Paine, Royal Oak, Mich.; one daughter, (Patricia) Mrs. Wesley G. Forrest, Birmingham, Mich.; a half-brother, Harry W. Paine, Salisbury, Md.; one sister, (Ethel) Mrs. G. Stuart Krentel, Golden Circle, Escondido, Calif., and eight grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents.

He was a member of the M&M Club, Eagle Grove.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, November 1 at 2 p.m. in the United Church of Christ. Rev. Emmett Braselton officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
