Charles Buster “Buss” Nielson
16 September 1913 --- 26 January 1973

Charles Buster Nielson was born at Eagle Grove on September 16, 1913, the son of Fred C. and Alvina Sorensen Nielson. He was educated in the Eagle Grove Schools and grew up in Eagle Grove.

In 1934, he enlisted in the Army, and served for two years. He returned to Eagle Grove in 1936 and was united in marriage to Miss Fern Beck at Fort Dodge on December 29, 1936.

The couple became the parents of five children, four of whom survive.

Buss worked as a truck driver most of his life, living at Des Moines and Osceola before returning to Eagle Grove in 1960. He was employed by Kist Ready Mix and later by Knutson Ready Mix.

He passed away at his home of an apparent heart attack on Friday, January 26, at the age of 59 years, 4 months, and 10 days.

He is survived by his wife, two sons: Tommy Nielson, Muscatine; Paul Nielson, Coalville; two daughters: Peggy, Mrs. Gilbert Schwering, Stratford; Betty, Mrs. Donald Hanus, Eagle Grove; brothers: John Nelson, Monroe; Gerald Nielson, Sioux City; sisters: Mrs. Anna Espevold, Northwood; Mrs. Carl Collins, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Maurice Welsh, Columbia, Mo.; and six grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, Chris; one sister, Evelyn; and one son, Jackie Dean Nielsen.

Funeral services were held on Tuesday, January 30 at 2 p.m. in the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home. Charles Bourgart officiated, and burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery.
